Service Description: Wildfire Administrative Boundaries include: Forest Protection Zones and Dispatch Boundaries.
Forest Protection Zones: This layer represents Forest Protection Zones per WAC 332-24-7xx. This zones have been mapped based off the legal descriptions available in the WAC. It is current as of 2018. These areas are "zoned-out" for FFPA - meaning fire protection by DNR (FFPA) will not be assessed or provided in these zones. The Fire District responsible for the zone will be providing wildfire-related response.
Dispatch Boundaries: This layer represents DNR, Federal, and Tribal Dispatch boundaries current as of 09/2019. Sources for this information came from the NIFC Dispatch boundaries dataset, CWICC and NEWICC shapefiles, and DNR Region boundaries. NOTE: the attributes are broken out by DNR and FED. If dispatch zones overlap - which is very common - the dispatch center responsible for an incident is dependent upon the land ownership (fed/tribal/state/private) where the incident occurs. For more information please reach out to WA DNR Wildfire Division - 360-902-1300 .
