Description: Eelgrass (Zostera maraina) and surfgrasses (Phyllospadix) are submerged aquatic plants with recognized ecological value and management protection. These data from DNR's monitoring program (Submerged Vegetation Monitoring Program) sample seagrasses at sites throughout Puget Sound using underwater video transects for both long-term monitoring and special projects. For each site sampled, summary information is available on the years sampled, species found, changes over time, estimated vegetation area, and depth range. Detailed information is also available on precise area sampled, including transect-scale data.
