Service Description: This service contains point locations that represent volcanic vents and eruptive centers in Washington State. Many published sources were used to provide vent location, geologic description, geologic unit age, and material composition, among other attributes. The given sources indicate over 500 vents in Washington State. Funding for this data compilation was provided through a U.S. Department of Energy geothermal grant.
These data contain the locations of volcanic vents and eruptive centers, along with descriptive data. Each vent correlates to a unique ID, vent name, general geologic description, and specific description of material composition. Further information includes a feature type (categorical division of volcanic nature, for example stratovolcano, cinder cone, and dome), vent group (categorical division of vent or eruptive center based on geographic location), unit name (geologic material), and member (eruptive episode). Geologic age, age date, and age date method are listed where this information is available
