description: This dataset contains information on the location, heat characteristics, and availability of water chemistry of known water wells in the state of Washington. This version is intended to supersede, in part, the geothermal_locations point feature class in the previously released Geothermal Resources geodatabase (Washington Division of Geology and Earth Resources, 2010). This dataset includes borehole and water well temperature information obtained from the Washington State Department of Ecology (ECY), Washington Division of Geology and Earth Resources Open File Report 94-11 (OFR 94-11), Southern Methodist University (SMU) Regional Heat Flow Database, and the U.S. Geological Survey. We also include unpublished data on file with the Division. Data from these sources were incorporated into this database only if a calculated gradient or an assumed bottom-hole temperature were recorded. We use the term 'assumed' to denote that the location of the temperature measurement within the borehole is assumed to be the bottom, although this is generally unknown; temperatures from this dataset should be considered mininum bottom-hole temperatures. This feature class is part of a geodatabase that contains geothermal data for Washington State. Chemical analyses are available for some of these locations in a related table within the same file geodatabase. Much of the data is located within central and eastern Washington.
