snippet: The aggregate resource inventory is represented by aggregate resource polygons classified as Demonstrated, Inferred, Speculative, or Not a Resource. Resource polygons represent two different commodities: either “Sand and Gravel” resources or Bedrock units that are mined for “Rock and Stone” resources. Demonstrated and Inferred sand and gravel polygons have an additional estimated thickness classification attribute that groups them based on average resource thickness: greater than 80 feet thick, 25-80 feet thick, or less than 25 feet thick. Speculative resource polygons typically lack subsurface information and are not classified further based on estimated thickness. Because the thickness of bedrock resources is difficult or illogical to quantify in most geologic situations we do not divide bedrock into thickness categories. Polygons classified as Not a Resource may either represent land classified as not a resource or areas mapped as water.
