Service Description: This dataset provides surficial geologic mapping at scales of 1:25,000 to 1:99,000 for Washington State. The data have a broad range of academic and practical applications, including growth-management planning, dam safety, hazard and risk assessment, water resource appraisals, resource use and protection, education, recreation, and scientific research.
This dataset consists of 12 feature classes and 1 table containing 1:25,000-1:99,000-scale geologic mapping for Washington State. Feature classes available in the full download of the data include: attitude_points (structural data), contacts, dikes (dikes and sills), faults, folds (fold data), geologic dates (from sampled locations), geologic_unit_polygons (geologic unit polygon data), map_index (spatial location of all scale data and their sources), map_line (linear geologic data), map_point (geologic point data), misc_polygons (miscellaneous polygon data), and volcanic_vents (vent data). Also included within the geodatabase is a related unit description table, unit_descriptions, which defines each unit as reported by the author of the published map, and provides age, lithology, and full unit descriptions.
